Description

This soft and shiny jewel tone hand spun yarn just hits me right in the knitty feels! It’s just so lovely (tooting my own spinning horn, I know!)

I hand spun this lovely yarn using wool top dyed by another indie dyer (because I love to try out different fibre blends and colour combos). This is a fun and luxurious blend of merino wool, alpaca, camel and silk. Merino makes this a soft yarn, the silk adds shine, finally the alpaca and camel fibres add cosiness with a little fuzzy halo.

This yarn was chain-plied, so the colours are kept in solid sections and its structure is rounder and plumper than a 2-ply.

There are beautiful shades of soft blue, green, orange and pink.

With a total of 148 yards of DK weight, this hand spun would make a lovely baby beanie hat (with yardage to spare) or a soft cowl. You can pair it with an equally soft commercial yarn and make something bigger such as a shawl or, if keeping this hand spun for accent parts, a whole jumper (if you use a dark colour as the main body, the jewel tones will be a really nice pop of colour on your knitted or crocheted object).

The journey of my hand spun yarn is yours, too

A hand spun yarn is that special something with a character that commercial yarns just can’t get close to. Each yard of fibre has passed through my loving spinner hands to become what it is now: a bouncy, squishy and shiny skein of yarn waiting for your imagination to turn it into the perfect knitting or crochet project you can be proud of.

When you craft with my hand spun yarn, you are picking up my work and making it your own by continuing the fibre’s journey.

You are therefore a part of this amazing handmade artistry, how lovely is that?

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Keep yarn in a dry room away from direct sunlight. Airtight boxes are recommended. Don’t place anything heavy on top of the skein to avoid squishing it.
  • I recommend adding lavender sachets to the storage container for pest prevention.
  • Hand wash your finished product separately using wool-specific detergents, dry flat. Hand dyed fibres may bleed a little in the first couple of washes.
