Description
I am a bit plant-obsessed, so it’s no surprise I came up with this variegated purple pink magenta hand dyed yarn, inspired by Fittonia plants.
I dyed Fittonia in both fingering weight and DK weight yarn. The photos show how different yarn thicknesses can make a colourway look different yet equally beautiful.
For the sock weight I used my Gaia yarn base, a blend of superwash merino wool and nylon in 75/25 proportion, a sturdy combination that can withstand more wear and tear than other more delicate yarns, and may be machine washed in the delicates cycle.
My Athena DK is 100% merino and so soft you’ll want to squish it all. day. long!
“Fittonia” would look so stunning as a hand knit jumper in a simple stockinette stitch to let the hue variegation do all the talking.

A word on repeatable colourways
This is a colourway I can repeat and results will be similar from one dye batch to another, but never exactly the same. This means that colours may pool more on one area of the skein than another, or look a bit different from the colours shown in these photos.
Do take this into consideration if you are placing a custom order for more quantity than I currently have. Different fibres also absorb dyes differently due to their contents and factory processing, so if you want this green hand dyed yarn in another base it may show differently as well.
