Description
Just look at this glorious neon hand spun yarn! Those yellows, greens, pinks and oranges are just so yummy-looking. They’re also UV-reactive, meaning they will glow under UV light like a happy firefly on its way to a party.
The back, grey and blue are non UV-reactive.
Fluorescent yarn is made with a special type of dye that absorbs ultraviolet (UV) light and then emits visible light. This means that when you shine a UV light on fluorescent yarn, it will glow. The color of the glow will depend on the type of dye that is used.
This neon hand spun yarn was chain plied, meaning it’s got 3 plies created from only one thread of yarn, similar to a crochet chain. This preserves the colour sequence of the original hand dyed wool top used to spin it and, in this particular case, never repeats itself.
The fibre content is superwash (very soft) merino and a little nylon, so it doesn’t felt and is very sturdy. Perfect for harder wearing projects such as beanie hats for a rambunctious child.
Here are 168 yards of mostly worsted weight knitting or crochet fun waiting for you. Get this one-of-a-kind skein in your stash before it disappears.
Hand spun yarns are special
Hand spun yarns are special and full of character. They have a personality that commercial yarn just can’t get close to. Each yard of fibre has passed through the spinner’s loving hand to become what it is now: a glorious, squishy skein waiting for your imagination to turn into a knitting or crochet project you can be proud of.
When crafting with handspun, you are picking up the spinner’s work, continuing the fibre’s journey, and making it your own.
Be a part of this amazing handmade artistry.
