Description

If you like to stay cosy around your neck, look stylish and not have to worry too much about the possible hassle of washing a delicate wool item, this red wool shawlette is for you.

This triangular garter stitch shawlette is 128cm (50″) at its widest and I knit it using my own hand dyed yarns and pattern. The fibre is superwash treated, meaning it can be machine washed in the delicate cycle, whilst still retaining the warmth and natural properties of wool. The added nylon ensures your garment will withstand a decent amount of handling without pilling or looking worse for wear.

The reds in this yarn are gorgeous, going from a rich red to a deep burgundy. This handmade wardrobe staple can become an heirloom piece to be passed down for generations if properly cared for.

Care Instructions

I recommend you don’t wash this shawlette unless you really need to. Wool is self-cleaning, so hanging it horizontally outdoors for half an hour will get rid of any smells such as tobacco.
If you do need to wash it, preferably hand wash with wool wash detergent or baby shampoo, do not wring. Can be machine washed in the delicate or wool wash cycle. Air dry horizontally, preferably using blocking pins to retain the sharp triangular shape.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Store your hand knits away from direct sunlight.  Don’t place anything heavy on top of the fibre to avoid squishing it. I recommend folding shawls gently and storing them side by side instead of one on top of the other.

  • I recommend adding lavender sachets in your drawer for pest prevention.

  • Hand wash using wool-specific detergents, dry flat. Shawls, particularly lace, will need to be blocked with wires to regain their open stitch definition.
