Pining for Spring regardless of the time of year? Here’s the wool top for you.  This lovely organic merino spinning wool (or felting wool!) with brighten your crafting days as you move from pretty pinks to serious blues and sunny yellows.

All the colours go beautifully together so your finished object will look gorgeous no matter how you choose to spin or felt your fibre. There are 100g or 3.5oz for you to play with.

This is a certified organic Merino wool top, and seriously soft at 23 microns thin. Dreamy for those next-to-skin projects.

Is this wool top or roving?

Wool top can often be referred to as roving, but they are two different types of wool preparation: with combed wool top, all the shorter staple fibres have been removed and the wool is all facing the same direction. In roving, the shorter staple fibres are still present and the wool is a bit more jumbled, i.e., the fibres don’t all go in the same direction.
They’re both great, they’re just not the same!

This combed top is fantastic for felting or spinning, on its own or added to other fibres – you do you!

  • Keep wool top/roving or art batts in a dry room away from direct sunlight. Airtight boxes are recommended. Don’t place anything heavy on top of the fibre to avoid squishing it.
Handle silk hankies with moisturised hands to avoid them sticking to your skin.
  • I recommend adding lavender sachets to the storage container for pest prevention.
  • Hand wash your finished product separately using wool-specific detergents, dry flat. Hand dyed fibres may bleed a little in the first couple of washes.
