Description
Are you looking for a rather lovely undyed sock yarn to play with, maybe for home dyeing? My yarn base Gaia Sock is a bouncy, high twist, natural white sock weight/fingering weight/4-ply yarn. It is one of my most popular bases, I love working with it and I’m sure you’ll feel the same once you’ve tried it.
Find out more in our Fibre Bases and Info page if you’d like to know a little bit more about my different bases.
Gaia’s fibre content is superwash (non-felting) merino 75% and 25% nylon. Nylon makes these skeins of wool extra sturdy, perfect for knitting or crocheting items that need to withstand more friction, such as socks or cardigans.
Superwash wools don’t felt and take up dyes more vibrantly and easily than regular undyed sock yarns. Food colourings, for example, are a fun way to play with wool without having to use dedicated equipment.
Each skein is a squishy 464 yards or 425 meters long, making them perfect for a pair of socks (if you have small feet like me, you can get away with two pairs if making the cuff shorter!) or, if you dye multiples, you can knit a cardigan or jumper with your very own hand dyed yarn.
