Description

Rusty Door in Modena is a merino cashmere yarn hand dyed in saturated turquoise blue and rust yarn with enough speckles to keep your eyes interested when knitting or crocheting and after you’ve finished your project. This is a limited edition high twist Merino/Cashmere/Nylon base, providing great stitch definition to your project (fantastic for lace shawls).

At 546 yards or 500 meters, one skein gets you far. Looking for this colourway in fingering weight? Click here for the Gaia DK version.

Because designer indie-dyed yarns are created in small batches, differences are to be expected between skeins (and often even in the same batch). I advise you buy as many skeins as needed for your project and alternate them to avoid pooling and colour mismatches. Find out more in our Fibre Bases and Info page.

Please Note: the photos mostly show this yarn in DK weight – the photo with the skinny long yarn depicts this base.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Keep yarn in a dry room away from direct sunlight. Airtight boxes are recommended. Don’t place anything heavy on top of the skein to avoid squishing it.
  • I recommend adding lavender sachets to the storage container for pest prevention.
  • Hand wash your finished product separately using wool-specific detergents, dry flat. Hand dyed fibres may bleed a little in the first couple of washes.
