Description
I like big batts and I cannot lie! (Sorry. Sort of)
This is one scrumptiously big blue pink and purple art batt – at 120g or 4.2oz, this big bundle of fluff and sparkle is sure to fill your spinning or felting needs. The reason it’s larger than the usual 100g is because I used 100g of blue fibre to begin with and then added all the other good stuff like silk and sparkle and mohair locks.
The base is a blend of BFL and bio-nylon – this means this batt is just as soft as a pure wool one, it just has an extra layer of strength added to it that’ll ensure your finished object will be super durable. Plus, bio-nylon is (as the name implies) biodegradable!
I added some neon fuchsia pink mohair locks to the blend, as well some equally curly blue-purple Wensleydale ones. Then you have some dusty rose pink to help tone the excitement down just a tiny bit, which is moot because the holographic sparkle and the darker pink silk just bring it all back up.
This is one mega squishy textured art batt, just the ticket for spinning or felting something really fabulous and fun.
What can I make with this art batt?
My preferred way to spin art batts is to core spin them whilst using a “sticky” core yarn such as mohair; then I ply it with some shiny thread and Bob’s your uncle. However, you do you! Textured art batts are after all a great way to experiment with texture and remember, sheep are growing more wool as we speak. Don’t be afraid of letting go and experimenting to see what happens.
Unfortunately I’m not overly knowledgeable when it comes to wet felting and therefore can’t offer particular advice; I’m told you can “disassemble” art batts by moving the fibres around to suit your preference before felting, which sounds to me like a really fun way to play with wool. I can see this as a background for an even more textured 2D artwork, or a book cover.
This squishy blue pink and purple woolly marvel is here for your fibre fun, whatever you decide to make with it.

Colours are showing true to reality on my monitor but I can’t promise they’ll be the same on yours due to monitor settings.
